Job Summary:
The Cloud Administrator will play a crucial role in managing and optimizing cloud infrastructure on Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS). This person will be responsible for working with the IT leadership team to ensure the reliability, security, and performance of our cloud environments, while also supporting the deployment and management of cloud-based applications and services.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Administer and manage cloud services on Azure and AWS, including virtual machines, storage, networks, and databases.
- Monitor cloud resources to ensure optimal performance and cost-efficiency.
- Implement and managed cloud security measures, including identity and access management, encryption, and firewall rules.
- Deploy and configure cloud-based applications and services using best practices and automation tools (e.g. Terraform, Azure Resource Manager, AWS CloudFormation).
- Collaborate with development teams to integrate cloud solutions into existing infrastructure.
- Setup and configuration of cloud compute resources in both AWS and Azure.
- Monitor cloud environments for performance, availability, and security.
- Analyze and optimize resource usage to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
- Implement and manage auto-scaling and load-balancing solutions.
- Respond to and resolve incidents related to cloud infrastructure and services using ITIL tools.
- Perform root cause analysis for issues and implement solutions to prevent recurrence.
- Maintain detailed documentation of cloud configurations, processes, and incidents.
- Work with the IT team to develop and implement backup and disaster recovery plans for cloud resources.
- Work with the IT team to regularly test and update disaster recovery plans to ensure data integrity and availability.
- Ensure compliance by implementing cloud policies to meet regulatory requirements related to cloud infrastructure.
- Conduct regular audits and review them with IT leadership to maintain security and compliance standards for all cloud environments.
- Stay up to date with the latest trends and advancements in cloud technologies and best practices.
- Evaluate and recommend new cloud tools and services to improve infrastructure and operational efficiency.
- Perform other duties at the discretion of management.
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience as a cloud administrator
- Hands-on experience in both Azure and AWS environments
- Experience with scripting and automation tools
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools
- Linux experience preferred
- AWS or Azure certifications preferred
- Excellent understanding of cloud architecture and services on both Azure and AWS
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Process-oriented and quality-focused with exceptional attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to juggle multiple tasks on deadline
- Effective communications skills, both written and verbal
- Self-starter and quick learner
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
